Ragnarok overview
Ragnarok rewards biome specialization. Viking Bay and nearby mountain routes cover early and midgame metal, the volcano and Murder Snow hold the premium crystal and obsidian nodes, and the desert adds cactus sap plus cave resources for longer industrial chains. Do not route it like a compact map; pick one biome objective per run.
Viking Bay
Reliable early metal access and one of the easiest areas to build repeatable haul routes.
Volcano + Highlands
Best overall mix of metal, obsidian, and mobility when your tribe is scaling past starter gear.
Murder Snow
High-yield area for crystal and obsidian, but it punishes underprepared mounts and weak extraction plans.
Best farm loops
Viking Bay starter metal loop
Open with Viking Bay cliff faces, work outward into nearby hills, then smelt before you overextend. This is the simplest path for saddles, smithy upgrades, and early firearm progression.
Volcano and highlands haul
Use the volcano for metal and obsidian, then sweep the highlands ridges on the way home. Best done with a flyer that can clear elevation changes without wasting a second mount slot.
Desert and cave specialty route
Reserve the desert for a dedicated run when you need cactus sap, desert cave crystal, or resource variety for recipes and utility crafting. Mixing it into a metal route usually burns too much time.

Cactus sap: the desert biome makes Ragnarok uniquely convenient for preserving salt and some crafting chains.
Plant Species X seeds: sweep swamps only when you can combine the route with paste or traversal needs.
