Network status

Is ARK down right now?

Live answer, straight from our own monitoring network: we poll every official ARK: Survival Ascended server around the clock and record the totals every 10 minutes. Here is the state of the network right now.

Major outage likely: a large share of official servers are unreachable.

5 of 2,899 tracked official servers are responding to our monitor (normal for the past 24 hours is about 2,876). Updated Jul 4, 00:20 UTC. If you are seeing connection errors, it is probably not just you. Check the official sources further down for confirmation.

Official servers online 5 of 2,899 tracked
Players on official servers 5 peak over the past hour
Unofficial servers online 75,717 player-hosted, tracked separately

Official servers online: the last 48 hours

Each point is a 10-minute snapshot of how many official servers were reachable. A patch-day restart shows up as a deep but brief dip, since every server restarts and most are back within about 30 minutes; a real outage stays low for longer. The scale starts at zero, so a flat line means a healthy network.

Recent disruptions

Detected from our monitoring snapshots: at least 20 consecutive minutes with the official online count below 90% of its previous 24-hour peak. Short single-server restarts do not register here.

Started (UTC) Duration Depth
Jul 3, 22:00 UTC 2h 30m dropped to 2 online (about 0% of normal)
Jun 22, 21:20 UTC 20m dropped to 1,662 online (about 58% of normal)
Jun 19, 18:10 UTC 30m dropped to 2,174 online (about 69% of normal)
Jun 12, 02:00 UTC 20m dropped to 561 online (about 18% of normal)
Jun 7, 18:00 UTC 20m dropped to 502 online (about 16% of normal)
Jun 5, 05:10 UTC 20m dropped to 1,690 online (about 53% of normal)

Is it ARK, or is it just you?

Work through this list from the top; most "ARK is down" moments resolve at step one or two.

  1. Check the live counter above. If most official servers are responding, a network-wide outage is unlikely, and the problem is more local: your server, your connection, or your platform.
  2. Look up your exact server. Find it in the server browser and open its page to see its live status and recent uptime history. A single official server can crash and restart on its own without anything else being wrong.
  3. Check Wildcard's official channels. The in-game notice above is pulled straight from the game's own news banner; Studio Wildcard also posts maintenance and outage updates on X (Twitter).
  4. Check the platform services ARK depends on. ARK: Survival Ascended signs in through Epic Online Services on every platform, and official servers are hosted by Nitrado, so an incident at Epic's status page or Nitrado's status page can look exactly like an ARK outage.
  5. Rule out the usual local suspects. Restart the game, check for a pending update, and try joining a different server. If other servers work, your home server is probably mid-restart rather than the network being down.

What usually causes ARK outages

Most incidents fall into one of three buckets. Patch days: when Studio Wildcard ships an update, all official servers restart to pick it up, so the online count dips until they finish; some servers take a little longer than others to come back. Platform incidents: problems at Epic Online Services (sign-in and multiplayer) or Nitrado (official server hosting) can break logins or take out whole regions at once. Individual server crashes: a single official server can go down for a few minutes and come back on its own, which feels like an outage when it happens to be your home server.

Frequently asked questions

How long do ARK server outages usually last?

Patch-day restarts usually take up to 30 minutes: every official server restarts for the update, and some come back sooner than others. Wider incidents, such as an Epic Online Services login outage, are typically resolved within a few hours. Long outages are rare; the 48-hour chart above shows exactly how quickly the most recent dips recovered.

Why is my official server unavailable when others are up?

Individual official servers crash and restart on their own fairly regularly. Open your server's page from the server browser to see its live status and uptime history. If you log in with Discord, you can also favorite the server and attach a webhook alert so you get pinged the moment it goes down or comes back.

Are ARK: Survival Evolved official servers shut down?

Yes. Studio Wildcard shut down the official ARK: Survival Evolved server network in September 2023, ahead of ARK: Survival Ascended's launch. Unofficial ASE servers still run, but there are no official ASE servers left to be down. This page tracks the official ARK: Survival Ascended network.

Do unofficial servers go down when official servers do?

Usually not: unofficial servers run on separate, independently operated hosting, so a Wildcard-side outage leaves them playable. The exception is platform-wide trouble; if Epic Online Services has a sign-in incident, joining any server can fail even though the servers themselves are healthy.

Where does this page's data come from?

ARK Status runs its own monitoring network that polls every official ARK: Survival Ascended server around the clock and records network totals in 10-minute snapshots. The counters, chart, and disruption history above all come from that dataset rather than user reports. The official notice is fetched straight from the game's own news banner.
